Phase One Showcase
HearVue began Phase One of its movement in September 2019 with the launch of this website.
The five-month period from October 2019 through to March 2020 introduced captioning to dozens of live events that had never experienced it before, a few of which are included below. It was wonderful to be associated with such outstanding organizations, all deeply committed to diversity and inclusion. Thousands of attendees were wowed, buzz was generated, and a cultural shift was taking place.
COVID-19 provides the unexpected occasion to reflect on the gains made by HearVue during Phase One. The greater the challenge, the greater the opportunity and we are excitedly planning Phase Two.
Our First Event – Michelle Obama
HearVue’s first event was “An Evening With Former First Lady Michelle Obama” in October 2019 in the Founder’s hometown of Hamilton, ON. Due to the short notice, this was a trial display of Live Event Captioning on one monitor only. Security restrictions did not permit HearVue to take any photos of the captioning, but it was great to increase accessibility for some of the attendees who raved about the captioning!
This full-day event is an annual gathering of mission-driven entrepreneurs, leaders, and professionals who want to do well by doing good. In their words, it is a mix between a business show and a rock concert. HearVue was delighted to provide captioning for the event across all monitors.
CNIB Foundation Events
The CNIB Foundation hosts many events and like HearVue, recognizes and respects the value of inclusion and accessibility. HearVue was pleased to sponsor their 2019 Opening Doors to Opportunity Reception and Guide Dog Graduation.

The mission of #movethedial is to increase the participation and leadership of all women in tech. From the start, Jodi Kovitz, its Founder & CEO, has been HearVue’s most vocal champion, which we have greatly appreciated. We are pleased to continue our partnership with #movethedial to make their events even more accessible and inclusive!
